Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD)

The Posterior Tibial Tendon is one of the most important structures supporting the arch of the foot. When this tendon becomes inflamed, stretched or torn, the arch gradually collapses, resulting in a condition known as Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD) or Adult Acquired Flatfoot Deformity.

What is the Posterior Tibial Tendon?

The posterior tibial tendon runs behind the inner side of the ankle and attaches to the bones of the midfoot. It plays a vital role in:

Stage II – Flexible Flatfoot

  • Tendon weakens
