PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR PATIENTS NEEDING SURGERY
Normally all patients, who are posted for surgery, are provided with an estimate
explaining the total cost involved for their particular surgery. This cost estimate
or quotation helps patients plan their finances so that their surgeries can
proceed without any hassles.
Estimate for surgery is generated in a standardised manner across all hospitals and takes into account, the type of surgery, its complexity, time needed for surgery, materials and implants used etc. This is a very transparent process, and no hidden costs are involved. The cost remains same for all the self-payee, medically insured and company sponsored patients.

SELF- PAYEE PATIENT
Patients paying for their treatment themselves ( self-payee ) are needed to pay
security deposit on admission and get office permission for their surgery to
proceed. They need to pay the remaining final bill amount at the time of their
discharge.
COMPANY SPONSORED PATIENT:
Patients whose bills will be paid by their companies are required to get an
authorisation letter from their company for their surgery to proceed as
planned. This letter can be provided at the time of pre-operative check-up few
days before their surgery or it can be brought along on the day of their admission
to the hospital.
Hospitals generally accept payments in the form of cash, debit cards, credit cards and online money transfers via many portals. Cheques are accepted only if paid minimum 1 week before the date of planned surgery and must be cleared before office permissions are granted for patient’s surgery to proceed as planned.

PATIENTS WITH MEDICLAIM (HEALTH INSURANCE) POLICIES:
Health Insurance or Mediclaim Policies can be bought from private companies
or government backed companies ( GIPSA companies ). Each company will have
its own list of approved hospitals for cashless treatments in various cities across
India. These companies also have pre-approved rates for surgeries of various
types and complexities.
Patients, who have acquired health insurance cover, can avail cashless treatment facilities only at recognised or approved hospitals. If they get treated at non-recognised or non-approved hospitals, then they first have to pay their bills themselves and then submit their paperwork for re-imbursement.
Private Insurance Companies generally do all formalities themselves about cashless pre-authorisation and payments to hospitals for treatment provided. For such patients, forms provided directly by the insuring company needs to be filled up and sent with supportive documents for approval of cashless treatment.
Government backed insurance companies (GIPSA) and some private companies may appoint another company for providing pre-authorisation and hospital payment facilities. Such intermediary companies are called TPAs (Third Party Administrators). For all such TPA patients, application forms provided by the concerned TPA company needs to be filled up and sent with supportive documents for approval of cashless treatment.
Patients having a Mediclaim (Health Insurance) Policy need to pre- operatively complete formalities like application for cashless treatment. Normally pre-authorisation for cashless treatment is taken 5 to 7 days prior to planned surgery. The selected hospital’s Mediclaim Department team will assist patients in filling appropriate forms and submitting all relevant documents for cashless approval.
Planned surgery proceeds only after the hospital gets a written confirmation of approval for cashless treatment from the insurance company. In some cases, the insurance company may raise some concerns or have some queries about patient’s diagnosis or treatment. In such circumstances, Dr. Jadhav and the hospital team will reply and resolve these queries with the insurance company to get approval. Patients are advised prior to their surgery, that if there is any difference in the final bill and the bill amount sanctioned by their insurance company, then they will have to pay extra money to cover up this gap . In some cases, there is a clause of co-payments by the patient. This co-payment amount varies from company to company and must be settled by patients prior to their discharge.

Documents needed for pre-authorisation of cashless treatment at approved hospitals
- Adhar Card
- PAN Card
- Mediclaim Insurance card or Policy document provided by insurance company
- Doctor’s consultation papers
- Investigation reports e,g. X-ray / MRI / CT scan films and reports
- Duly filled pre-authorisation request form of concerned company
- Estimate about surgery and treatment costs
Patients must be aware that some health insurance companies have a waiting period for certain conditions and surgeries. This period can be variable depending upon the condition. Such patients are not able to avail cashless treatment or get re-imbursement of their medical expenses within their policy’s waiting period.
After completion of the waiting period, patients can avail cashless treatment facilities as usual. Dr. Anand Jadhav pro-actively encourages all his patients to get themselves medically insured as the cost of medical treatment is rising on a regular basis. Having a Mediclaim insurance policy eases the financial burden on any patient’s pocket.
If patients have any insurance related queries or doubts, then Dr. Jadhav or the hospital Mediclaim department team members would be happy to help them and resolve any issues.
